PPC search-term analyser

Upload or paste a Google Ads search-terms report to find possible wasted spend, negative-keyword candidates and converting queries worth reviewing as keywords.

1. Add report data

Paste or upload your search terms

Include Search term, Clicks, Cost and Conversions. Impressions and conversion value unlock extra metrics.

2. Set decision thresholds

These rules create review queues, not automatic campaign changes.

Turn a long search-terms report into a focused human review.

The analyser combines duplicate search terms, calculates account-level metrics and applies your click, CPA and ROAS thresholds. It never edits Google Ads, and the report stays in your browser. Review relevance, conversion quality and match-type implications before acting on any suggestion.

  1. 01

    Export the right columns

Download a Search terms report with Search term, Clicks, Cost and Conversions. Add Impressions and Conversion value for CTR and ROAS analysis.

  2. 02

    Set business thresholds

Choose how many no-conversion clicks should trigger review, then enter a target CPA and target ROAS that reflect your economics.

  3. 03

    Review before editing

Investigate exclusion candidates for irrelevant intent and promote valuable queries only when they fit the correct campaign and landing page.

Use the number in context.

These notes explain what the calculation means, how to reproduce it and where a simple metric can become misleading.

How search-term performance is calculated

The tool aggregates repeated search terms before calculating cost and conversion metrics. A candidate is flagged against your thresholds, but semantic relevance still requires human judgement.

CPA = cost ÷ conversions · ROAS = conversion value ÷ cost

PPC search-term analysis example

A query with 18 clicks, meaningful spend and no conversions may enter the exclusion queue. A relevant query with three conversions below target CPA may enter the promotion queue. Neither suggestion is applied automatically.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Adding a negative keyword from performance data without checking whether the search intent is relevant.
  • Using a reporting period too short to capture the business's normal conversion delay.
  • Treating all conversions as equally valuable or ignoring offline lead quality.
  • Applying a broad or phrase negative that could block valuable variations.
  • Comparing branded and non-branded search terms against the same targets without context.

PPC search-term analyser FAQs

What is a PPC search-term analyser?

It is a tool that reviews the actual queries that triggered paid-search ads, calculates their performance and organises them into prioritised review queues.

Is this also a Google Ads search term analyzer?

Yes. Analyser and analyzer are regional spellings for the same type of PPC search-terms analysis tool.

Which Google Ads columns do I need?

Include Search term, Clicks, Cost and Conversions. Impressions enables CTR, while Conversion value enables ROAS. Campaign, keyword and match type add helpful review context.

Does this tool connect to or change Google Ads?

No. It analyses pasted or uploaded report data locally in your browser and cannot add negatives, keywords or make account changes.

Should every no-conversion search term become a negative keyword?

No. A relevant term may need more data, better ad copy, a stronger landing page or conversion tracking review. Check intent and statistical context before excluding it.

How should I choose the no-conversion click threshold?

Use a threshold informed by typical conversion rate, CPC, conversion delay and acceptable spend. A higher-value or low-volume campaign may need a different threshold from a high-volume lead campaign.

Can the analyser find new keyword opportunities?

Yes. It flags converting search terms that meet your CPA or ROAS target so you can consider adding them as deliberately managed keywords.
