The short version.

Google has introduced platform properties in Search Console, giving eligible creators and businesses a consolidated view of how content published on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube appears in Google Search and Discover. The rollout is gradual, so the option may not yet be visible in every account.

What this changes for a business.

  1. 01

Social content can contribute to search discovery even when the click does not land on the company website.

  2. 02

Teams can compare the queries and posts that generate visibility instead of treating social and SEO as separate reporting worlds.

  3. 03

First-party platform reporting makes it easier to identify topics worth expanding into website articles, videos or service pages.

How to turn platform-property data into an action plan

Step 1

Check availability and verify the account

Open the property selector in Search Console and look for the platform-property option. Select the relevant network and complete Google's authorisation process using an account with the correct ownership permissions.

Step 2

Record a clean baseline

Export the first available view of impressions, clicks, posts and queries. Note the reporting period and do not compare a partial new dataset with a full older month.

Step 3

Group queries by customer intent

Separate brand searches, how-to questions, product or service research, and entertainment-led discovery. High impressions without useful intent may be interesting but commercially weak.

Step 4

Identify repeatable content patterns

Look for formats and subjects that perform across more than one post. A repeated customer question is a stronger content signal than one viral post with no connection to the offer.

Step 5

Connect the insight to owned content

Turn validated questions into a useful website guide, service-page improvement or video. Link between the relevant owned and platform content when the connection helps the audience.

Step 6

Report the full journey

Track platform search visibility alongside website visits, assisted enquiries and conversions. The new report shows discovery; it does not prove that every impression created revenue.

What not to do.

  • Do not assume the feature is available to every account immediately.
  • Search visibility for a social post is not the same as engagement inside the social platform.
  • A popular post should not become a website article unless the topic is relevant to the business audience.
This is a genuinely useful reporting bridge between SEO and social content. Small businesses should set it up when available, then use the data to find durable customer questions rather than chasing every short-lived spike.

Questions about this update.

Which platforms are supported?

Google's announcement names Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. Availability is rolling out gradually.

Does this replace website Search Console data?

No. Platform properties add reporting for supported external profiles; the website property remains essential for owned-site performance.
